How a Packout Runs
1. Walkthrough and Triage
Room by room: what leaves, what stays, what is non-salvageable, what needs immediate attention. Documents, photographs, electronics and textiles are time-critical.
2. Itemized Inventory With Photographs
Every item recorded, photographed and tagged to a room of origin and a storage location. This inventory is the document that resolves disputes later, and it is where most packouts are weakest.
3. Non-salvageable Documentation
Items that cannot be recovered are photographed and listed with descriptions before disposal, so the loss can be substantiated instead of argued.
4. Pack and Transport
Proper materials by item type, loaded so nothing cross-contaminates.
5. Cleaning and Restoration
Soot removal, deodorization, textile and upholstery cleaning, hard-goods cleaning, and specialty items handled by the appropriate method.
6. Climate-controlled Storage
